A personal blog on the Canadian pesticide industry and other pet peeves and interests

through Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, Southwestern, and Wharton School of Business to name a few.
All opinions are his own and do not reflect the policies of Gardex Chemicals Ltd.
Robert high?? Surprising I know, but here I have the excuse of just getting out of St. Joe’s (or Mike’s or Bernie’s – St. Bernard – get it) and their Emergency room. So a week or two ago, they saw me walk in bent over double and after numerous tests, withdrawals and probes, they finally […]
My top ten targets and fodder for ranting about illogical, inane and insane things people or collective people called “associations”, Industry, guberment, whether municipal, provincial or federal, and suppliers do; and anything else I feel like! A$Sociations: value add or money grab. Read it here first. I could type each of these out but you […]
No, not that lame, but last year was just plain damn effed up (sorry) You know how you go to do something that requires focus, but you just can’t get there? Too many thoughts racing around in circles. I go upstairs to get my phone, then the dogs want to play, oh here’s this to […]
After a lot of pressure and arguing and swearing between myself and an unnamed female higher up in the Association (kidding, but you know who you are), I relented on some points. The regional associations do a pretty good job of trying to meet your needs, and the needs of the support industries, “associate members” […]

This isn’t the first the PMRA has expressed an interest in registering fly lights, or FILTS or whatever you call them. They did publish an initial intent, for commentary, way back in 2018. Which is well and good, but our industry as a whole hasn’t done much to put up a fight. I think I […]
Here’s the gist of the issue: PMRA wants to increase revenue, or lose people. Since they’ve eliminated more pesticides and/or uses than they have registered, their responsibility is shrinking. Less to keep busy hands and minds…never mind. By expanding their scope, outside their remit under the Act, and requiring registration or certification or just requesting […]
Hey, just a point of clarification to my 3 loyal readers. This is Robert’s Rants! Not Robert’s Kudos! Not Percy’s Praises! It’s nothing more than me griping (bitchin’) about anything I want. Just trying to point out ignorance, or in the the case of our government, people getting paid to do nothing more than make […]
I put SPMAO first as a request from a friend 😁 But where are you guys in stopping this utterly ridiculous move on the PMRA’s part to start registering mechanical devices for insect control? Are you calling on all members, supplies, allied industries, and your higher power to make the PMRA come to their senses? […]
No it wasn’t Jack Daniels, Molson or Swiss Chalet sauce. just the plain old Pfizer mRNA, not the mutating melon-sized clot causing other crap. But Justin said, and we believed, that all vaccines are great. Just roll up your sleeve and shut up. And so did the NACI, this unknown entity managing our measles programs. […]
